Overview
My client are looking for someone who thinks analytically, has great communication skills and enjoys working as part of a team. You’ll have worked in a similar role before and bring ideas and experience from previous roles. You will work hard to ensure the correct underlying architecture is in place for other teams to build their solutions upon. This will include keeping up to date with the latest ideas and technologies and introducing them to my client where appropriate. You will have a solid grounding in Computer Science and Software Engineering principles, either from a formal education background or through extensive experience in your career. As well as being technically strong, you will also have an understanding of business and how our work within the delivery team contributes to the success of the business as a whole. Responsibilities Develop and enforce data integration processes, templates, design patterns, frameworks, best practices, and technical standards Establish and enforce technical standards for use by all BI project delivery teams by coaching the teams to apply these standards on a continual basis Use hands-on technology experience to conduct proofs of concepts and prototypes to prove out new technology and innovative ideas in the search for competitive advantages Design and implement data ingestion techniques for real-time and batch processes for a variety of sources into a variety of systems Visualise and report data findings creatively in a variety of visual formats that provide insights to an organisation Knowledge of data, master data and metadata related standards, processes and technology Define and document architecture roadmaps and standards Drive use case analysis and architectural design around activities focused on determining how to best meet customer requirements within the tools of the ecosystem Ensure scalability and high availability, fault tolerance, and elasticity within a big data ecosystem Provide technical leadership and coaching to junior team members Architect, design and develop ELT and ETL solutions focused on moving data from highly diverse data landscape into a centralised data lake; also architect, design solutions to acquire semi/unstructured data sources, such as sensors, machine logs, click streams, etc Manage all activities centred on obtaining data and loading into an Enterprise Data Lake Serve as an expert in efficient ETL, data quality, and data consolidation Perform ETL code review to make sure it follows the established standards and best practices Stay current with vendor/product roadmaps and make recommendations for adoption Maintain a customer-focused attitude. Education: Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Information Technology, Computer Sciences or Computer Engineering. Experience: 8 years IT experience o 4 years of experience of data governance, data quality, profiling, MDM, data modelling 4 years of experience building large-scale data solutions involving data architecture, data integration, business intelligence and data analytics 2 year of experience working on large scale Big Data projects Deep technical knowledge of most components contained within the Hadoop ecosystem (MapReduce, HDFS, YARN, Hive, HBase, Sqoop, etc.) Experience with RDBMS platforms, such as SQL Server and in-memory columnar storage, such as HANA Strong SQL skills o Java/J2EE experience a plus Experience with visualisation tools a plus Understanding of statistical and predictive modelling concepts, a plus Project Management experience with agile methodologies a plus Manage numerous competing demands in a fast-paced environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills
