Overview

Inspire People are retained by NHS Digital to source and attract suitable candidates for the position of Associate Director API Platform. With increasing demand to integrate internal systems across the NHS, this newly created role will serve as a key member of the Platform Directorate and will be responsible for setting the future Direction and Leadership of the newly created dedicated APIs function, supporting stakeholders to help them leverage APIs to exploit the national Platforms provided by NHS Digital. Leeds based. NHS Grade 9 paying between £91,004 and £104,927 plus generous NHS Pension of 20.6% and 27 days leave rising to 33 days with service. About the Role: The Associate Director API Platform will serve as the API subject matter expert and product champion across NHS Digital and wider stakeholders in the health and care ecosystem and will focus on three key development areas: Management Tools, Design & Curation and an API Development Factory. As part of the role you will be responsible for: Drive consumption of APIs by highlighting the opportunity and benefits to stakeholders across the organisation as well as across the health and care ecosystem. Working with IT and business stakeholders to determine how APIs can enhance business capabilities. Ensure API quality and alignment of APIs with the strategic business goals, such as enabling more user interactions and speeding up partner on-boarding. Oversee the integration capability and supporting activities, with responsibility for overall success of the capability, daily operations, stakeholder management, value and performance reporting, budget and funding. Act as custodian of the Integration & API Management operating model. Managing and prioritising a backlog of work and co-ordinate with API engineers and development teams to develop new API capabilities. About you: Demonstrable leadership skills with over 3 years-experience of leading Software Development/Engineering at a senior level. Personable and comfortable with presenting to senior stakeholders with associated gravitas, confidence and energy. Have a deep understanding Platforms Business Model and familiar with API ecosystems Demonstrable leadership skills with over 3 years-experience of leading and recruiting Software Development/Engineering at a senior level. Experience of Product Management and creating value. Strong communication skills and experience. Strong understanding of user experience and data integration. Attention to detail as well as being able to see the big picture. Experience of leading successful DevOps / Technical deliveryteams Agile and Lean practices. It would be desirable for you to have: Demonstrable knowledge and experience of building, consuming and supporting APIs. Have a good understanding of the leading API management tools. Agile/Lean coaching skills. A broad understanding of FHIR & HL7.
