Overview
The Employment and Pensions Department at this leading Legal 100 firm has a national is over 90 strong with a national presence. They have a large thriving commercial client base and a strong public sector client base, including a significant number of household names and listed businesses. Their Northern teams work closely together with a focus on providing a seamless service to their client base across the North and nationally. Together the team comprises 5 partners and 26 lawyers. The Leeds team is ranked in Tier 1 in the Legal 500 and Chambers and Partners guides. The team advises clients on issues from daily personnel matters, including disciplinary and grievance issues, to strategic management issues such as redundancy programmes, industrial action and transfers of employees. They also work closely with their commercial and corporate colleagues to provide support on transactional matters. The team operate a flexible working policy, with many of our lawyers working from home regularly. The successful employment solicitor will undertake a varied workload of employment matters advising employers in a variety of sectors, including retail, health, logistics and insurance work. You will progress and manage a wide variety of client matters both contentious and non-contentious, and varying complexity and scale. There are management responsibilities on offer for more senior candidates and whilst the firm would ideally like the post holder to be a solicitor of 5 years' or more, candidates outside this will be considered. You must, however, have experience of handling tribunal claims from start to finish, and ideally supervising others to do the same. Civil and/or appellate court experience (EAT, High Court, Court of Appeal etc) is desirable. You must have experience of contentious and non-contentious matters, and preferably experience of advising on major projects involving restructures, M&A, TUPE and collective consultation, as well as general advisory work with clients on senior-level issues such as executive terminations or restrictive covenant disputes. Work on multi-national issues or immigration experience is also welcomed.
