Our client is a Top 50 firm in the City who is looking for a payments lawyer to join them for a 12-month secondment to a banking client. The role has potential to extend into a permanent position. The role also has capacity to be part time, 3 days a week, or full time for 5 days a week. The firm is one of a few firms with leading expertise in payments and retail financial services. Their specialist FinTech and Payments teams work across the Financial Services industry to ensure that companies in the technology field maximise the opportunities in this area. They work with a full range of businesses in this sector to include card issuers, global acquirers, e-money institutions, third party providers, payments technology providers and fraud reporting companies. The successful individual will join the firm to be seconded to one of their banking clients. They will advise the client on all key areas of payments commercial contracts and payments regulatory compliance. You can expect to get involved with: Dealing with payment services regulatory processes and authorisation, variation of permission, change of control, individual approvals and Principle 11 notifications. Developing knowledge of the Payment Services Approach Document. Drafting compliance and risk management policies and procedures. Cross-jurisdictional regulatory issues. Regulatory, commercial contract and industry aspects of product design, structuring and distribution. Highlighting new legal and regulatory developments and consider their impact on fintech clients. Candidates are likely to: Be a qualified solicitor in England & Wales or another commonwealth jurisdiction. Possess upwards of 2 years' post qualification experience. Possess experience in dealing with regulatory or commercial contract issues for a FinTech, payments institution, e-money institution or a bank. Have an interest in regulation and knowledge of the payments landscape. Demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. Have the capacity to handle a high volume of work.
