Located in Borehamwood, with fantastic transport links, with a dynamic, agile and fun environment where you can expect to develop your career at an accelerated pace and be generously rewarded for your efforts The Role This role is a replacement for our current solicitor whom is moving on for career progression, they are looking for someone who has ideally got a property background or knowledge of the property sector. They would look to consider someone who has worked in house in an estate agents dealing with evictions. Role Responsibilities: Advising on new instructions, requesting information if required and drafting notices to end tenancies. Contacting clients after notice has expired to see whether they require a claim to be drafted. Drafting possession claims and other required documentation such as witness statements then keeping client updated of progress of claim Maintain excellent customer care throughout by keeping the client updated on the status of their case on a regular basis Adhere to the SRA Code of Conduct and all compliances. Adhere to the Landlord Office manuals, both of which form part of your contract of employment Preparing case for any hearing including communicating with clients and defendants, drafting brief to advocate and case bundle where required Keeping track of case directions, tasks and deadline where required Contacting clients after possession order awarded to see whether they require a bailiff application to be drafted. If they do, then drafting the application Communicating with Supervisor at all stages of case progression so logs can be maintained Contacting clients at end of matters to discuss progress and upsell other Landlord products Keeping track of their own matters for billing purposes and reporting to the Practice Manager/Supervisor on a regular basis Making use of legal software system and suggesting improvements Utilise paralegals where appropriate and within their capability, to assist with administrative support Work to set company billing targets Providing any additional regular assistance and support as required by the Practice Manager/Supervisor or Associate Director (Legal) Ensuring that all company security procedures, as detailed in the Personal Information Security Policy, are followed and any areas of concern are notified to the department manager Other duties Assisting with taking new instructions from Landlords/Agents by telephone or email when required. Working on other legal matters as agreed with the Landlord Action Practice Manager/Supervisor or Associate Director (Legal). General Ensure that all Company security procedures, as detailed in the Personal Information Security Policy, are followed and any areas of concern are notified to the your Department Manager Essential Skills & Requirements Direct experience of residential landlord and tenant possession work is a necessity. Experience of other general litigation such as debt recovery is beneficial but not required. A high level of English language skills with a proven ability to communicate clearly, concisely and grammatically, in writing as well as verbally, is essential A good and proven level of numeracy to at least an A – C GCSE (or equivalent) standard Must have excellent attention to detail with a methodical approach to ensure that high standards of quality are consistently maintained Must have the ability to work independently and prioritise and plan own workload ensuring that deadlines are achieved Must have the ability to apply forward planning and strategy to their workload Must have the ability to work within a team environment so that effective working relationships are maintained Must have an excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office packages and the ability to learn new systems and processes as required Must have drive and self-determination with the ability to find, recommend and implement solutions to problems Benefits Pension Healthcare Othe Important Information: We endeavour to process your personal data in a fair and transparent manner.
