Overview
We are working with a multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy that now has a fantastic opportunity for an Assistant Civil Design Engineer to join their team in Manchester. Our client also has opportunities in their other offices across the UK so please feel free to apply even if you are based outside of Manchester Principal responsibilities: Undertake the duties of the designer as highlighted in CDM legislation. Act as designer and checker on projects as directed. Deliver tasks to the required quality, time and budget. Act as Lead Engineer on projects, working with the Project Manager, reporting financial progress and taking necessary corrective action. Contribute to the team’s achievement of Annual Plan by meeting or exceeding project targets. Manage relationships with various internal and external stakeholders. Apply procedures and systems to ensure the safety and wellbeing of your team and other stakeholders. Key skills/experience: Experience of civil engineering design principles and standards. Knowledge of construction principles and standards. Knowledge of working with contractors in a design and build environment. Knowledge of the rail sector, Network Rail procedures and standards. Awareness of contract conditions, processes and procedures. Knowledge of programming, delivery, budgets and timescales. Knowledge of the process of designing and checking civil engineering deliverables. Experience in the use of Eurocodes. Relevant degree, class 2:2 or above. Membership of a relevant professional institution. Working towards professionally qualified Chartered or Incorporated Engineer status.
