Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Graduate Quantity Surveyor to join an established Construction and Development company near Coventry. It is an exciting time for the business and as such they require an ambitious Graduate Quantity Surveyor, starting immediately, to support the team through their anticipated period of growth. Reporting to the Commercial Manager, you will be responsible for all of the commercial element of your allocated construction projects working under the appointed project lead. This will include procurement of suppliers, value engineering and managing project budgets/spend. Key responsibilities: Support the Commercial Manager in managing the company’s supply chain. Ensuring any gaps within the supply chain are filled with at least three compliant suppliers and all current suppliers remain compliant. Assist in the delivery of tenders. Provide at least three compliant suppliers quotations for packages with your own evaluation and recommendations prior to elevation and selection of suppliers by the Commercial Manager. Complete all commercial activities on your allocated project reporting to the project lead Provide the Commercial Manager with monthly reports on the commercial delivery of all allocated projects, highlighting actual performance against planned. This is to include orders and variations to/from the client/suppliers, money in/out and project OHP for that month. Analyse current operational processes and performance, recommending solutions in a quarterly report to the Commercial Manager. Maximise efficiency and productivity through interdepartmental collaboration. Collaborate with the Commercial Manager in the development of the business and its strategic planning. Be an advocate for organisational policies and standards, ensuring legislative regulations are followed. Ideally you will have graduated this year with a good degree in a relevant Construction related subject such as Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management or similar. Whilst industry experience would be ideal, of greater importance is being able to demonstrate real enthusiasm for a career in Construction and Quantity Surveying.
