Design Manager (MEICA and Fire Safety) - London
Overview
Building the present, creating the future Description BAM Nuttall is part of the Riverlinx Consortium that is contracted to design and build the new Silvertown Road Crossing, and we are currently seeking a Chartered Engineer or Technician to join the project team based at the project offices in London. You will work as an integrated member of the site team using the BAM CDE / contract administration systems, communications, IT and other facilities. Reporting to the Project Director, your primary role will be to manage the delivery of fire safety and MEICA designs for the Silvertown Tunnels, ensuring effective coordination with civil, structural and building elements. The project requires knowledge and experience of Fire Safety engineering and MEICA design, including systems integration and the verification and validation processes required. You will identify design deliverables, interfaces, dependencies and produce a design plan that instructs who is doing what, when and how. You will need to ensure the design is compliant with the Fire Strategy and the appropriate level of integrity, robustness and redundancy is designed into, and specified for, the MEICA systems. The works consist of: • Fire safety engineering. • Substations, earthing and MCC's. • Extensive LV distribution and cabling. • Tunnel lighting and wayfinding. • Tunnel ventilation - jet fans. • Tunnel fixed fire suppression system. • Linear heat detection system. • Automated incident detection system/ CCTV. • Leaky feeder radio system/ telecoms. • PAVA. • Traffic control system - VMS and traffic lane control signs. • Integration with external traffic systems. • SCADA / network. • Drainage. Job Requirements You will have a design background with extensive MEICA experience, particularly relating to road tunnels. Knowledge of the NEC form of contract is preferable. What do we offer?
