Overview
I often wonder why Data is so important. Is it because Data helps businesses understand how to improve internal processes? Is it because Data helps organisations shed the impact of wasted resources? It is because Data helps stop the impact on the dreaded bottom line? Upon reflection, I think Data is important for all of those reasons and many more. Luckily this organisation agrees and they are now looking to expand their award-winning Data Analytics function by hiring skilled Data Engineers, ideally with proven experience across a number of Data-focused disciplines including Data Analysis, Data Modelling, Data Visualisation and Cloud Engineering. Based out of their Manchester HQ, you will join in a hybrid Engineer/Consultant role, helping customers identify the tools needed to unlock their Data, get the most out of their Data and ultimately start delivering value to their business. Combining technology expertise with proven industry experience, you will ultimately help organisations solve complex problems. After all isn't that the fundamental function of a good IT division? The organisation in question are an award-winning Software Consultancy with a specialist focus on delivering scalable solutions and with a niche focus on Cloud and Data maybe the two largest markets in the tech space. They work with blue chip customer spanning multiple verticals (e.g. Financial Services, Banking, Retail, Utilities, Public Sector) and have a truly entrepreneurial environment, encouraging creativity, autonomy and ultimately innovation. Your role will be hybrid, focusing on a mix of disciplines including Data Engineering, Data Architecture and high-level Technical Consultancy. You should ideally come from a background in either Consulting or Software and you should ideally posses some of the following skills: Proven commercial experience working as a Data Engineer, ideally in an enterprise environment or in a role focused on delivering solutions to customers. Strong technical skills across a range of Data-related tools and technologies such as SQL, Python, R, Hadoop, Hive, Spark, PowerBI and Cloudera. Good understanding of Data Modelling and Reporting. Experience working with Public Cloud technologies (AWS, Google Cloud, Azure) and related Cloud Architectural patterns. Proven experience working in an Agile development environment. In return, you would be joining an organisation that genuinely invests in its employees. They offer fully expensed certifications (think Cloud & Data), personal/tailored training budgets and the opportunity to attend some of the largest tech conferences globally (e.g. Dreamforce, Microsoft Ignite, AWS Re-Invent) fully free of charge Moreover, the company offer flexible working hours and the opportunity to work remotely, so don't be put off by the word 'Consultancy'.
