Overview

Head of Legal Barker Munro recruitment, the insurance recruitment experts in Kent are currently working with an expanding insurance business in mid Kent who are undertaking a period of growth and as such require an in-house solicitor. As the Head of Legal, you will be responsible for a number of areas within the Legal unit and you will manage, develop and motivate the legal department, managing and supporting them in a collaborative manner and build a pipeline of future legal talent by providing a number of career opportunities and career development. You will advise key stakeholders on legal priorities (corporate governance and other related regulations and legislation) whilst overseeing a number of other areas. This really is a multifaceted job but with the main objective of leading on all legal topics for the business and ensuring legal compliance with new precedents, case law and legislative changes are adhered to and actioned within the business in the correct way. What do you need to demonstrate? The ability to work collaboratively with various business functions and senior management within the business but also to demonstrate the ability to operate at a strategic level with a commercial focus at all times. What experience/knowledge do you need? Previous experience of working in the insurance industry is preferred but not essential. What is required is at least 5 years PQE, maybe a practicing solicitor from within a recognised commercial team in the private sector or maybe from within an in-house legal team in the UK market. You will also be able to demonstrate LLB/LLM from an accredited law school and be qualified to practice law in the UK.
