Overview
Investigo are delighted to be supporting a large Milton Keynes based Retailer with their recruitment of a Finance Accountant - Stock, on a permanent basis. The purpose of the role is to ensure a high level of financial control in the accurate accounting for stock. The successful candidate will be a Professionally Qualified individual, and they will possess strong technical accounting ability. Key Duties are as follows: Process and execute standard period end deliverables associated with all areas of stock accounting accurately and on time, ensuring all is in line with the organisation's accounting policies Responsible for accounting for all stock movements, shrinkage, obsolescence and other stock provisions and FX revaluations Prepare periodic balance sheet reconciliations and commentary for stock balances, ensuring that all variances are investigated and explained Support external audit preparation and any Internal Audit requirements Prepare the budget, forecast and latest view for all stock adjustments, and monitor associated risks and opportunities Consistently and regularly review and improve controls and processes around stock accounting Work closely with the Trading Finance team to ensure a shared understanding of the overall stock position and any issues that required commercial engagement Work with Store / Warehouse operations on improving operational stock flow processes and educating Operational colleagues on their impact on stock accounting processes Closely work with the Technology team to mitigate/fix any systems defects/issues impacting the accounting and reporting of stock Proactively work with the Business Protection team to highlight any stock issues potentially leading to loss of physical stock/fraud Support Finance Transformation activity as required Perform a high standard of ad hoc analysis supporting the Senior Finance Manager and Financial Controller Our Client will consider candidates who are looking to make a first move into industry from practice, or equally those operating in a financial accounting role currently.
