Overview

Our client are a National Social Housing Provider looking to recruit two Support Workers in the Wakefield area over a 4 week rolling rota including alternate weekends with the potential of the role going permanent. Shifts would mix between 7:30am - 3:30pm and 2:30pm - 10:30pm. Job Purpose: - To plan and deliver a range of personalised support to customers, working with individuals and empowering them to achieve their goals and aspirations - To deliver an effective housing management service, including reporting repairs and maintenance issues aswell as maintaining health and safety standards within the service - To contribute to the day to day delivery of the service undertaking a range of administrative tasks and customer service responsibilities - To work as part of a staff team committed to delivering excellent customer focused support in a supported housing environment Accountabilities: - Deliver a flexible and asset-based support approach, reflective of different customer needs, including: - Self Assessment of person-centred needs, strengths, aspirations and risks - Co-produce tailored support plans and bespoke move on plans alongside customers - Identify SMART objectives, milestones and actions with customers to support them to meet their goals - Adopt a psychologically informed approach to delivering support, empowering customers to have choice and control and to drive the support they receive - Engage customers to meet agreed actions by promoting empowerment, independence and delivering appropriate support interventions - Involve customers, and where appropriate key stakeholders (eg family/other support providers) in the planning and review of support provision - Conduct regular planned reviews of support and risk, or following an incident/significant change in a customer's circumstances to ensure the support plan and risk assessments remain relevant - Assist customers with day to day support requirements and tenancy related matters - Work alongside customers with a variety of complex needs and support requirements - Resolve difficult and challenging situations in a sensitive and informed way, balancing the needs of the individual with responsibilities for the safety of the service - Identify and promote opportunities for employment, education and training and support customers to remove barriers to accessing these opportunities Person Criteria: Essential: - An understanding of the barriers faced by vulnerable customer groups and experience of working with individuals with complex needs - Experience of working with people from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds - Experience of delivering structured support and risk management in a supported environment - Experience of working in a multi-disciplinary team - Able to work independently and use own initiative - Demonstrating a positive, flexible and non-judgmental approach to supporting individuals on a daily basis - Excellent verbal and written communication skills with individuals from a variety of different backgrounds - Proficient IT skills including use of Microsoft Office programmes Desirable Criteria: - Knowledge of current benefit systems - Knowledge of current housing regulations and how these impact locally - Knowledge of psychologically informed approaches to support Pay - £11.24 p/h PAYE or £13.73 p/h umbrella.
