Job Description
In response to the unprecedented events we are currently experiencing due to the spread of Coronavirus COVID-19, at this time we will be conducting our interviews via telephone or video calls. FULL TIME MALE SUPPORT WORKER - Wakefield Heathcotes Flanshaw are currently seeking full time MALE support worker to work in our specialist residential service for adults with a Learning Disability who may have dual diagnoses and associated complex needs and mental health needs. We have 6 service users that require daily support. The Role of a Support Worker: * Encourage individuals to live a life that makes sense to them. * Provide care and support as identified in care plans, as directed by senior staff members. You will promote independence, life skills and informed choices in accordance with the individuals support plan and to enhance inclusion in the community. You may have to provide personal care where required which may involve supporting with; continence needs; health and medication needs; handling personal possessions; finances and documents; shopping. * Dignity must be promoted and facilitated to ensure personal care provision is in a safe and appropriate environment, where directed through the support plan. * You will need to ensure effective communication and relationships with the service users and to be aware of the communication differences and adopt an approach that minimises the effect of such differences in accordance with their support plan plan. * To manage behaviours adhering to strategies and procedures set out within individuals care plan and in accordance with relevant legislation and full training is provided via an induction and ongoing training. Requirements: * A compassionate and friendly can-do attitude. * A willingness to work some evenings, weekends & bank holidays. * Drivers preferred but not essential. Shift Pattern: working 40 hours per week. Shifts planned on a rolling rota and you are expected to work your share of each one. The times are 8am-8pm, 8am-8pm, 10am-5pm, 10am-6pm. You will get every second weekend off.
