Senior Development Physicist – Eastbourne An interesting position for a Senior Development Physicist has arisen, working within the specialist electronics division of a market leading company who are renowned globally for being at the forefront of their field in Eastbourne. Role and Responsibilities: •Capture and analyse requirements, understanding the needs of the customer •Generate formal requirements and design documentation •Make recommendations on suitable technologies, design approach and techniques •Complete detailed designs with supporting calculations •Generate test specifications for verification and validation of the finished design •Produce detailed test reports showing traceability from requirements to validation •Deliver projects to agreed timescales, following correct governance processes •Supervise the development laboratories, specify equipment and laboratory processes •Advise manufacturing on vacuum equipment and methods Skills and Experience required: •Bachelor / Master / PhD in physics or related discipline •Chartered Physicist / Scientist and Membership of relevant professional body e.g. IoP •Significant experience working in the field of vacuum •Thorough understanding of vacuum science •Good knowledge of vacuum measurement techniques •Good practical and laboratory skills •Experience working in a product development environment •Appreciation of how the job role contributes to business success •Good understanding of manufacturing techniques associated with vacuum equipment •Methodical approach to problem solving •Excellent verbal and written communication skills, able to communicate with technical and non-technical colleagues Further information: •The role is based in Eastbourne, UK. •There may be occasional need to travel to other UK sites (e.g. Burgess Hill or Clevedon) or to meet UK based suppliers or customers and, in exceptional situations, to travel to worldwide locations •Eastbourne Product Company serves all divisions within Vacuum Technique •The role is based in a multi-disciplined team and requires close interaction with engineers and managers from within the team and across the company •The candidate must be a strong team player, and have a positive pro-active attitude •No budgetary responsibility •No direct reports in the short-term but could be assigned a more junior person to supervise in the future For further information or to apply please contact Lisa Darbyshire on or email This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/89920944
