Development Engineer
Overview
A Development Engineer is required for a well-established leading furniture manufacturer based in Accrington who have a global presence within the industry. Currently our client is on the lookout for an experienced Development Engineer to join the design & development team, responsible for providing technical advice & support on the development of new furniture products from concept through to completion. The Development Engineer will be tasked with researching and developing new ideas for products and the systems used to create them. The role will also focus on analysing existing products with a view to improving their efficiency and overall performance. The Development Engineer position will be a hands on role and will require supporting the design team with recommending best practice in assembling products, arranging and coordinating test build programmes for new products and providing training support to internal and external installation teams. The Development Engineer will also be responsible for producing detailed prototypes through 3D printing and modelling. Development Engineer Position Overview Provide technical advice & support on the development of new furniture products from concept through to completion Test furniture prototypes identifying and selecting materials needed for production Manage the product development process Interpret engineering drawings and discuss ideas using industry standard engineering terminology Supporting the production stage, such as training assembly operatives. Producing prototypes through 3D printing and model making Development Engineer Position Requirements Min 2 years' product development experience ideally within furniture manufacturing with knowledge and understanding of castings, injection mouldings, aluminium and plastic extrusions and fabrications. Proficient in SolidWorks Ability to use PhotoView, Photoshop & Microsoft Office. Ability to think laterally and problem solve. Strong literacy and numeracy skills as preparation of detailed technical drawings are essential (HNC / HND or a degree) in Engineering or design related discipline.
