Overview

Our client is a forward-looking College of Further & Higher Education that serves a large area of South East England with a wide range of vocational and academic courses, both full and part time. The College is situated in Ewell, close to Epsom in Surrey, and is located in the green belt near Epsom Downs and can easily be accessed either by car (junctions 8-10 on the M25) or rail (Ewell West is close and the college is next to Ewell East where you can get regular direct trains to Clapham Junction and Victoria). The College was last inspected in February 2016 retaining its overall grading of 'Good' under the robust new Ofsted standards. They are currently recruiting to the following position: Part time/ Full time Business Development Manager up to £40,721 p.a. (full time salary) NEL currently has 10 commercial initiatives, including a hair salon; café; osteopathy clinic; nursery; theatre; sports hall and grounds; and reprography. NEL has ambitious growth plans for these businesses and is looking to appoint an energetic and commercially astute Commercial Services Manager, ideally with experience of successfully managing and leading a number of different businesses, to join us on this exciting journey. You will provide leadership to all of these businesses, working closely with the relevant Service Managers and their teams on delivering trading and growth. This includes tracking performance across a range of different metrics (sales, product, revenue, contribution etc.) as well as overseeing the end-to-end execution of bringing successful new business/propositions to market by working with our Sales and Marketing Teams. We are looking for someone who promotes entrepreneurial thinking, is solution focused and can make connections across the team, the wider College and all of the external markets in which we operate. The ideal candidate will also be able demonstrate strong stakeholder management and inter-personal skills, confidently challenging and influencing opinions. They will also be comfortable operating numerical data sets as part of preparing business cases. Finally, to be successful in this role, the ideal candidate must be able to lead and take responsibility and ownership of their responsibilities, delegating constructively and being able to manage conflicting priorities under pressure, whilst maintaining a professional and positive manner to enable teams to deliver results.
