Job Type: Full-time

Overview

Scouts Director of Communications and Marketing c. £90,000 London Scouts is a global force for good and the largest mixed movement in the UK, inspiring over 460,000 young people to gain skills for life. They help girls and boys from all walks of life play their part, speak up and stand out. Society is changing. In often fragmented communities, the pressures and expectations on young people are increasing. The future is uncertain. Scouts has never been so important in helping young people prepare for the future, developing the skills they need to succeed in and in due course to shape a changing world. Our movement achieves extraordinary things. Now we want to go further. Skills for Life is a strategy that supports and empowers our 160,000 adult volunteers: the people that make Scouts happen across our 7,000 groups. It’s a strategy to bring communities together and contribute towards a better society. But most of all, it’s a strategy for young people. They deserve the best skills, the best support, and the best possible futures. Your challenge, as Director of Communications and Marketing, is to shape the public perception of our movement, increasing our relevance, reach and reputation. You’ll develop and implement a proactive communications strategy, and contribute to the overall strategic direction of the organisation. You will be the strategic lead for media, public affairs, brand, ambassadors, marketing, internal and external communications, ensuring that we reach our target audiences with key messages about our strategy and work. A strategic leader, you’ll have led a successful and ideally high-profile Marketing and Communications function within a demanding environment. You’ll also bring a demonstrable track record of influencing public opinion, decision-makers, donors, supporters or volunteers. In addition, you’ll be able to demonstrate your capacity to contribute to the initiation, development and delivery of an overall corporate strategy, achieved through negotiation, motivation, diplomacy and collaboration. Aligned to Scouts’ values of care, respect, cooperation, integrity and belief, you’ll be a proven ambitious, entrepreneurial and high performing leader who will make sure Scouts always speaks with authority, authenticity and impact. You’ll be supported by a talented, committed leadership team and will contribute with integrity, good humour and the intellectual versatility to increase Scouts’ standing further still. Growing in membership and stature, without a doubt, this is a challenging and exciting time to join Scouts.
