Overview

DXC are seeking a Chief Engineer for a key account who are at the start of an extensive change program. The ideal candidate needs to be able to quickly assess the situation on the account, understand the current services/architectures, work together with the Account Technical Lead on technical roadmaps and then oversee the implementation of the roadmap, focusing in particular on obsolescence. You need to be able to deal with ambiguity, want to apply structure and rigor and be good at building strong client relationships. The role is client facing and you should be able to be in Newbury 2-3 days a week. Role Summary The Chief Engineer is the key technical leader on project and engineering delivery.They set and drive the standard for technical design and architecture on a large scale.Working with architects and Lead Engineers they ensure quality of the products delivered to the customer and that design is fit for live operations and support. Accountabilities Technical Design Authority • Design Authority on an Account or program • Primary focal point for on any Design matter ( including escalations ) • Ensures quality of engineering and solutions development, ensures standards for technical governance on program or account follow Technology Office best practice guidance • Leads other engineers and architects in the delivery of complex enterprise technical solutions • Leads technically significant work on enterprise scale projects such as large project/programs involving multiple disciplines, technologies, multi-geographies, and business units. • Regularly leads large cross functional teams to include technical management of client staff assigned to implementation team in the completion of one or more solution requirements, architecture, or implementation deliverables that are fit for live operations. • Provides the technical direction required to resolve complex issues to ensure the on-time delivery of solutions that meet customer expectations. May need to develop new methods to apply to situations. • Usually responsible for approving a detailed technical design for enterprise solutions • Provides recommendations on technical resource requirements on engineering delivery Transformation • Accountable for the transformation technical roadmap • Technical e2e leadership of transformations. Trusted technical advisor during a transformation to Transformation Managers, Account Delivery Leaders and customer representatives. • Overview about the technical status of the transformation (across Domains) • Guarantees integrity and completeness of the T&T design activities in alignment with contractual obligations, business requirements, delivery capabilities, expected end-state, as well as standards and best practices as defined within the solution • Escalation point for Transformation issues • Recommends way forward for complex add-ons that might require support of wider organization • Responsible for the solution life-cycle within the Transformation governance team, reporting the status to the appropriate Transformation Program Manager. • Agrees Early Life Support model for solution Account & Customer • Reviews quality & cost efficiency of Run services and Project Solutions providing recommendations for improvement. • Collaborates with Run to improve the quality & cost efficiency of Run services. • Growth enabler providing consultancy to pre-sales • Oversees the e2e technical cohesion of Change and non-standard change requests delivered by Project • Collaborates with Projects to identify possible improvements for Project Solutions. • Supports Projects to understand client specific environments and requirements to ensure that non-standard change requests can get delivered in line with client requirements • Assists in reviewd of end-to-end technical set-up and RCA analysis Skills & Experience · Typically 12 years of professional experience and a Batchellors of Arts/Science or equivalent degree in computer science or related area of study.Without a degree, additional years of relevant professional experience is sought. · 9 years’ experience of technical leadership or technical authority roles · 6 years of technical expertise in an specific area or discipline such as virtualization, workplace services or storage · Unique mastery and recognized expertise on relevant subject matter knowledge including technologies, theories, or techniques · Self-starter who can think laterally with good problem-solving skills both technically and for business issues who can communicate complex technical ideas in a straightforward way. · Proven experience in the integration and delivery of technology solutions with good technical documentation skills and a strong understanding of engineering principles and practices · Able to engage strongly with both internal and external stakeholders across various levels. · Ability to work in a dynamic environment managing multiple and changing priorities. · Good attention to detail and strong focus on quality · Able to work effectively as part of a geographically dispersed team This job was originally posted as www.totaljobs.com/job/89806005
