Overview

Maintenance Engineering Manager Up to £35,000 DOE Our retained client IMET Alloys design and manufacture custom materials working with titanium and superalloys. They are looking for an experienced front-line and hands-on Maintenance Engineering Manager for their premises in Livingston. However as expansion occurs this will also involve travel to other sites within the continental US and Europe. Applicants will be required to carry out both management / supervisory duties as well as hands-on fitter duties so must be experienced in both areas. They require someone to: - Ensure all plants operate at maximum efficiency, lowest cost highest productivity. - To participate as part of the operational team, ensuring adequate liaison exists and operational plans are met through daily communication and weekly meetings. - To meet the weekly engineering targets set by production requirements and report back on the % completion. - To assist with engineering projects and liaise with various consultants, suppliers and contractors ensuring they are brought in on time and on budget. Job activities and principal accountabilities: - Ensure that best practice is adopted by IMET Alloys on its plant maintenance requirements this will include operating within the guidelines of HSE SEPA, OSHA and NEMA. - Ensure that downtime is kept to a minimum on all process equipment. - Repair modify and or improve equipment as required in compliance with code. - Carry out regular inspections as part of the planned and preventative maintenance programme and liaise with production on suitable times to take equipment out of service for overhaul and repair. - Ensure costs are kept to the lowest possible level: this will involve procuring spares and having inventory on the shelf before equipment fails. - Be actively involved in the weekly planning of production to keep abreast of plant requirements: IMET operate a just in-time service and certain customers need quick turnaround which can impact planning. - To work closely with, Solids and Turnings department supervisors on establishing plant equipment requirements for the company. Make recommendations as required. Major Responsibilities: - Work with the maintenance team members and department managers in developing team objectives and priorities to support the overall business objectives of the company. - Carry out a comprehensive review of the maintenance operation reviewing daily maintenance control functions to identify and implement improvements. - Foster close working relationships with associated departments such as sales planning and logistics as well as business development. - Continually improve maintenance planning and spares control process. - Continuously improve vendor and supplier relationships and manage conflicts. - Identify areas where improvements can be implemented to reflect cost savings or increased production levels. - Take responsibility for controlled substances on site which can include but not be limited to Tungsten Tin Lead Bismuth and various Oils Greases detergents chemicals and compressed gases. - Have an active role in occupational safety and health of employees enforcing safe working practice and the use of personnel protective equipment - Cover emergencies and be available to assist in any accidents and investigations to comply with local and federal codes. - Mentor new employees, providing ‘on the job’ training to existing team members and ensure the team are satisfactorily supported in their day-to-day work activities. Supervisory Requirements: - Responsible for recruiting, interviewing and hiring of new members of the maintenance department as well as contractors in association with HR and senior management. - Responsible for departmental orientation and training of employees and contractors including updating training files. - Provide ongoing support to production and have processing equipment available to each department as necessary. - Supervise your department organising shift coverage where and when required handling performance evaluations and salary reviews - Builds motivates and retains a team that consistently meets objectives Applicant Requirements: Education: - University degree in engineering or equivalent experience in the field - Certificates from college and training records of courses attended Required Training / Experience: - Minimum 5 years previous experience in production engineering - Minimum 3 years’ experience in electrical and mechanical fault finding - Experience with all aspects of production and factory repairs and maintenance - Experience of working with computer programs associated with preventive maintenance, PLC and HMI SCADA would be an advantage - Experience with gas fired burners compressed air dust extraction and ventilation Required knowledge, skills and abilities: - High competency level in use of Microsoft Office (Excel PowerPoint and Word) as a minimum - Familiar with Auto-cad and can read P&ID’s - Excellent English communication skills spoken and written - Strong leadership skills and proven experience in staff development - Hands on approach to all tasks - Ability to take a proactive approach to overcome challenges and achieve results - Proven track record in maintenance engineering fully conversant with modern plant and equipment to include crushing shot blasting size reduction of Nickel and Titanium Alloys using various methods to include plasma Arc Air and gas torch cutting as well as shearing. - Good understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics systems - Can read and have a basic understanding of technical drawings and electrical schematics and use these skills to trace and repair faults in various circuits. - Be responsible for all lifting equipment on site and keep records of service and inspection.
