Overview

Job Purpose MJM Industrial is a well-established contractor to Heathrow airport. We design, build, install and maintain high quality airport infrastructure project solutions and operate as both a Tier one principle contractor and a second-tier support contractor to other major principles. We are based in Colnbrook, Berkshire. Due to continued business growth we now have an opportunity for a Projects Division Manager to join our team. Reporting to the Managing Director the successful candidate will hold profit and loss responsibility for the company Projects Division, which is comprised electrical and mechanical engineering and fit out departments. The Projects Division Manager will lead a team of project managers, coordinators and planners. They will be responsible from quotation through to client handover, for planning and managing the delivery of projects on time and on budget. Directing and supporting staff and delivering the project division sales and profits budgets and performance targets. Key Responsibilities P&L accountability for project division Planning, forecasting and reporting financial and business performance Managing a team of minor work Project managers and planners. Providing leadership, management and support, motivate staff and resolve conflict. Set high standards of performance and behaviour. Pre-construction communications. Including meeting clients, site surveys and preparing requirement specifications The management of all stages of project operations including: - On time scoping, costing and estimating of project sales enquiries. - Price and contract negotiation of both client and major subcontractor agreements. - Approving quotations and supplier purchase orders. - Resourcing, scheduling and overseeing work in progress of multiple projects. - Project management and reporting - Maintaining and improving quality standards and working practices - On time and profitable project delivery. Supporting the project sales team. Reviewing and contributing to engineering and construction contracts and ensuring that risk allocation is optimised, and contract compliance adhered to. Building effective working relationships with other company divisional managers and external stakeholders Identify opportunities for project division expansion and growth and developing new business relationships Key Accountabilities The delivery of project division financial targets and KPI’s Accurate and timely reporting of performance relative to budgets and objectives Reviewing and improving project division efficiencies and performance The ongoing improvement of division working practices and processes. Coaching and mentoring staff, building highly motivated teams The development of individual staff skill sets, work ethic and contribution Ensuring timely submission of bids and proposals, including effective contract execution, while maintaining compliance with applicable regulations. Delivery of all commercial aspects of contracts, quotations, amendments, action tracking, improvement, reporting and invoicing. Working with the finance team, close final accounts on project work on time and support the recovery of any outstanding debt Key Skills/Experience A demonstrable background and experience of working in a similar Senior Project Management role with a good understanding of: - CDM (Construction Design Management): principle designer obligations and principle contractor obligations - NEC options A-E (National Engineering Contracts) and experience tendering large RFI and RFP packages. Profit and Loss responsibility and experience of business planning, budgeting, forecasting and reporting processes Strong negotiating and decision-making skills, able to manage demanding commercial negotiations. Comprehensive project costing and estimating experience. Able to manage multiple projects of different values, duration and complexity at the same time A well-developed people manager with strong team building, leadership and delegation skills. A good understanding of Heathrow Airport process, governance and health & safety policies Above average communications and presentation skills. Experienced project management software user and Microsoft Office: Outlook, Word, Excel, Power Point and MS Project literate Early warning notice and compensation event notification knowledge is required Degree or similar level qualifications We Value A result driven and energetic approach to business responsibilities and challenges.
