Overview
Job Description: As a Principal Engineer, you will lead and support explosion safety activities across submarine platforms, as well as the facilities that support the build of these platforms. You will be responsible for a range of projects which will include the authoring and review of DSEAR Assessments. Core Duties Carrying out Dangerous Substances & Explosive Atmosphere Regulations (DSEAR) assessments Review explosion protection arrangements for new & existing buildings Raising explosion safety standards on site whilst controlling the associated risks Support to the site Fire & Explosion Lead Carrying out inspections and audits in a heavy manufacturing environment Specifying new fire protection systems and working with suppliers to install those systems Writing design specifications and other technical specifications Advising on significant upgrades on site with regards to explosion protection Undertaking peer reviews and verification of DSEAR related documents Working closely with a broad range of stakeholders. Functional Knowledge Significant knowledge in safety engineering; coupled with excellent technical authoring skills. Ability to work independently with minimum supervision Effective communication skill Good analytic skill Skilled in the use of standard Microsoft packages and specialist packages as required knowledge of completing DSEAR assessments in an industrial environment Additional Information: Due to the sensitive nature of the product all applicants must have worked within the Defence industry within the last 12 months or be capable of obtaining a UK MOD Security Clearance (SC level minimum).
