Title: Group Financial Controller Permanent, Full Time Contract Start Date: ASAP, new position The role is ideal for a qualified accountant with a couple of years post qualification experience. Pearl & Dean and Wide Eye Media are owned by Deanforbes Investments, part private equity backed and majority owned by Step Investments Group. Job Overview Reporting to the Group FD and based out of our Pearl & Dean London West End offices, we are currently recruiting for an experienced and commercially-minded Group Financial Controller to join our dynamic finance team to utilise their skills to help develop and improve controls, processes and reporting around our core finance function. The role is for Deanforbes Investments Ltd, the holding company for Pearl & Dean Cinemas Limited (London) and Wide Eye Media Limited (Dublin). Predominantly London based with regular travel to Dublin. Pearl & Dean and Wide Eye Media operate in the cinema screen advertising world as well as the digital poster market. Responsibilities Support the Group Finance Director in all aspects of the company management and statutory reporting. Take ownership of the monthly and quarterly closing process and manage the delivery of management accounting pack on a timely basis. Assist in the consolidation of group management reports. Manage and provide guidance and development to the small London finance team, currently five. Ensure that department objectives are met and that the company’s financial and strategic position is optimised for future changes and growth opportunities in alignment with the UK and Group strategy. Oversee major financial processes and provide guidance and support to the Group Finance Director, i.e. leading the annual audit, annual budget setting and quarterly forecasting. Work closely with department heads to gain a thorough understanding of the business pressure points and opportunities. Assist in ensuring that company financial systems are robust, compliant and support current activities and future growth. Participate in systems changes / upgrades and provide control over the process for the London entity. Build exceptional relationships with stakeholders and form close relationships with the CEOs and other senior executives and non-executives to grow the business. Improve and enhance the financial reporting process, and implement additional controls, keeping up to date with industry changes and accounting regulations. Perform high-level monthly reviews of the enities results and provide summary reports to the Group Finance Director, Department Heads across the rest of the business, and London and Dublin CEOs, with a summary of areas of good performance & concerns, and a detailed variance analysis of turnover, COS and overheads. Monitor cash flow to ensure we can meet the business requirements and utilise funds in the most efficient manner. Provide support on Group initiatives and reporting as and when required. Essential Skills And Experience Fully Qualified professional accountant: CIMA, ACCA or ACA. At least 2 years post qualification experience. Industry experience desirable, though not essential. Commercially astute, articulate and influential leader with the ability to operate at both strategic and operational levels. Exceptional communication skills at all levels. Strong IT skills, always being ahead of new technologies. Xero Financial software experience preferable, though not essential. Ability to handle high levels of pressure and critical decision-making. High integrity and openness, combined with commitment to good governance.
