Technical Lead - Travel - PHP/Magento - 20% Hands on LONDON Are you a Magento specialist? Either a Senior, Lead or currently in a TL who wants to move into Technical Leadership if so this role is for you One of the global leading travel companies require a Technical Lead with PHP & Magento experience to join their passionate development team and lead the design of pragmatic, maintainable software solutions. As the Technical Lead your key responsibilities will include: To support the development team on new and existing systems as required on a project by project basis Creation of documentation detailing technical work required for requested development, maintenance and support tasks to company standards Assist the PM with project planning and critical path analysis To support and coach a small team of developers. To support the technical direction of a professional and cohesive multi-disciplinary team that are technically astute and experienced To design and develop pragmatic, complete and maintainable software solutions under the guidance of a Development Manager to the agreed development plan and to approved specifications. To sustain and improve the quality of the software and the documentation delivered by the team to Quality Assurance. To maintain a good technical awareness and familiarity with new and forthcoming relevant technologies and highlight any skills or training requirements within the team. To provide detailed planning input to the Development Manager on estimated effort to develop certain modules/functions and to identify any specific technical or resource dependencies and/or risks the Software Engineer might be aware of. To contribute to and/or lead software analysis, design and specification tasks for specific modules/functions. Manage an Offshore team. The Technical Lead should have experience in the following: Demonstrable experience of PHP & Magento Demonstrable experience of Web development (java script, jquery) and dynamic programming languages (Python, Ruby) Demonstrable technical capability using SQL server to develop databases, structure efficient queries and work to tune performance Demonstrable experience using Source Control tools (GIT, SVN) Solid experience working with unit testing frameworks, and experience of integration testing and continuous integration Good knowledge of web development frameworks Knowledge and experience of SOA methodologies for software design and delivery.
