Overview

A brand-new permanent role has been created for a Service Engineer, to join a growing business that offers temperature mapping services to the Life Sciences industry. Do you have some experience in a field-based technician role where you have calibrated and maintained technical instrumentation ideally within a GMP/ISO regulated environment? If so, this could be an excellent career opportunity for you. You will receive extensive training in the different services that the company offers and you will travel around the South to visit a range of Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Hospital, Blood Storage and Laboratory Services organisations. Candidates will be considered at experienced level who may also have experience in training others. The salary is around £35,000 dpeending on experience, and could be negotiable above this if the candidate has particularly strong experience and can train others. The Company A specialist provider of Temperature Mapping services, with nearly 20 years’ experience of working with the world’s biggest Pharmaceutical companies. They do not manufacture their own products but design and implement comprehensive temperature monitoring solutions within the Life Sciences sector, personalised to every client. Their head office is in West London and you will spend some time here and some time travelling around the South (including London, the South East and South West). The company has an excellent reputation and places a great deal of emphasis on hiring people with strong communication skills, a positive work ethic and the desire to be an important part of the organisation’s growth. The Role The role of a Service Engineer is varied and hands-on, requiring both technical ability and strong communication skills. Your main duties will include:  Implementation of services and on-site calibrations  Calibrating instruments quickly and efficiently, on site, to UKAS, DANAK or NIST standards  Qualification of data loggers and sensors  Commissioning of monitoring systems  IQ/OQ of hardware and software  Implementation of factory calibrations and ISO 17025 calibrations  Creating the necessary documentation to support compliance to EU, MHRA, HPRA, FDA and USP requirements  Offering a full spectrum of client support and customer care  Undertaking structured training courses You will consult directly with customers regarding the maintenance and calibration of high-end equipment and you will have a mixture of both proactive and reactive responsibilities. Some of your work will be co-ordinated from the head office in West London, though most of your role will be field-based and could require staying away for 2-3 nights a week. Your time and travel will be expensed and you will receive a great deal of support and training. Experience You will need to have some training, qualifications and experience in an electrical and mechanical discipline. Full training will be provided in areas where you do not have previous experience. You will have to have a technical mindset and excellent communication skills to consult with customers. In addition, you must have experience of working in a calibration or validation role in a regulated manufacturing / supply environment (e.g. ISO17025, ISO9001, 21CFR Part 11, GMP etc). You must be flexible and adaptable, with the ability to travel to customer sites at short notice if required.
