Overview
A leading women’s charity in central Bristol is seeking a Head of Finance & Operations for a maternity cover position. The position is due to start in May 2020 and is likely to be for a fixed period of 9-12 months. The ideal candidate will be able to work 4 or 4.5 days per week, but applicants wishing to work 3 days per week will also be considered. The ideal candidate will be a qualified accountant (ACA, CIMA, ACCA) with understanding of charity finance (SORP accounting and restricted and unrestricted income) although this is not essential. The role will be largely strategic in nature, delivering financial information, strategy and advice to the board and to the CEO. The role will also involve production of the year-end statutory accounts, and assisting with the migration to a new cloud-based finance system. You will manage a team of 4 staff, covering the hands-on finance work and HR & Operations. The organisation has recently recorded a surplus around funding, which had previously been in deficit – so a strong understanding of funding is required. The organisation is a very flexible and friendly employer. Due to the nature of the charity, it is a special dispensation that applicants for this post must be female.
