Overview
Leading M&E contractor based in the West Midlands is looking for an experienced intermediate QS to join their commercial team on an immediate permanent basis. Working directly with the Head of Commercial and several team members, your role will include looking after large scale projects throughout the UK. This will include working as part of a multi-disciplined team to review and advise on the commercial and contractual aspects of a variety of projects , including the procurement of the sub-contract packages, preparing and agreeing interim and final account valuations and variations, financial management reporting to both the Clients team and Senior Management within the company. The group employs over 120 employees across 5 offices in the UK and Germany. It is a progressive and dynamic company and employees enjoy the family feel. Experience working in the construction industry A good working knowledge of Excel and the ability to learn to use specialist software Budgeting and forecasting Excellent and efficient communication and interpersonal skills Ability to liaise with subcontractors and site teams Have confidence to challenge the norm and influence decisions Confidence to work with large clients Experience of leading a team Driven and motivated to achieve results Be approachable and supportive ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Production of the monthly CVR in a timely manner Liaising on a daily basis with site teams/sub contractors and clients Negotiating with supply chain and contractors to achieve the best possible margin Reviewing of contract documents, assessing potential risks and issuing sub contract packages Submission of client variations and management of the variation account Attending post tender and pre tender contract meetings Travel to sites and occasionally other offices located in Leeds/Sheffield/London Train and develop junior team members where required
