The Opportunity: The purpose of the Solution Architect role is to guide, design, challenge, recommend and monitor IT application solutions developed in-house or by an external provider. The Solution Architect will collaborate with suppliers to achieve pragmatic results that deliver against QBE’s long-term business strategy. The Solution Architect is part of QBE’s Global IT organisation and will be required to work with our global community to shape regional and global solutions. Your responsibilities for this role may include, but are not limited to: o Collaborate with the rest of QBE IT and its partners to design effective solutions o Directly lead the design process to produce high level solution designs and Key Design Decision documents for critical initiatives o Review and endorse solution designs, and other deliverables, proposed by third party solution providers for the smaller initiatives o Peer review solution designs and key design decisions produced by other QBE architects o Assist solution design by leveraging extensive QBE business, system and application knowledge and experience o Advise and /or collaborate with third party service providers to ensure that all IT designs are commercially viable, deliver appropriate business benefit and are achievable within customer timeframes o Work with QBE stakeholders and third-party suppliers to continuously improve and promote the use of the Solution Assurance Processes in waterfall and iterative deliveries, in order to increase the level of quality across Change and BAU projects o Work within a Global IT organisation pulling together IT and business stakeholders from multiple regions and time zones to shape global IT solutions You will need to be able to display you have the following qualifications and experience: o Able to deliver high quality end to end solution architectures, underpinned by business process, data and enabling technology infrastructure. o Able to work with business stakeholders and project resources to develop options and gain consensus around key design decisions. o Experience of working within large change programmes delivering business critical systems and processes. o Experience of working with third party service supplier/ outsource providers, challenging vendors on solution designs resulting in improved product, price, and/or delivery o Experience of architecture governance including experience of assuring solutions, assessing conformance with architectural principles, standards and long-term strategy. o Knowledge of financial services, insurance or London markets. o Experience with key insurance applications (e.g. Policy, Claims, Finance) and enterprise platforms (e.g. CRM, workflow/case management, analytics) o A broad understanding of technology infrastructure We view our people as our most precious asset.
