Overview
Group Legal is an essential part of the Anglo American business. Our business colleagues view us as part of their team working towards a common goal. As our Legal Specialist, you would be part of the IP and Commercial team within Group legal. You would support the Anglo American business by providing IP advice and support with a focus on T&S and other Group innovation centers. This is a unique in-house role as it is rare for pure non-contentious IP roles to come up. You would be encouraged to work independently but would very much be part of the team You would support the broader team and be supported by them. Typical Tasks Support the Group in relation to IP issues that affect the execution of their business plans including the protection, commercialization, and enforcement of the Group’s IP Create awareness of, and communicate changes to, IP law affecting the Group Contribute to the development of Group Legal’ s systems, procedures and strategies for managing legal risks in relation to IP transactions and relationships Draft and negotiate (or supervise external lawyers drafting) agreements to document IP transactions and relationships for the Group, specifically joint development agreements and IP licenses Advising the Group in relation to IP strategy Support and implement systems, procedures and strategies for managing legal risks in relation to IP transactions and relationships Assisting with the freedom to operate opinions Manage the provision of legal services by external lawyers and law firms in a cost-effective manner
