An ambitious, career minded part time Assistant Accountant (AAT qualified/ finalist or studying ACCA/CIMA or equivalent) is required to join our clients’ small and friendly team in South East London. Key Responsibilities: Assist with the preparation of annual Statutory Accounts and liaise with Auditors when required Assist with the preparation of monthly Management Accounts Bank and Balance Sheet Accounts reconciliations Preparation and posting of monthly journals (prepayments, accruals, general journals, cashbook journals, etc.) Maintain Fixed Asset Register Preparing and submitting monthly Intrastat Declarations and quarterly VAT Returns Assist in the smooth day-to-day running of the finance function (incl. covering for team members, maintaining cash control, ensuring the up to date maintenance of the purchase and sales ledgers, etc.) Posting bank accounts and cashbook entries (in £, € and $) Updating and issuing weekly Balance Scorecard Liaising with the external IT support company to assist different departments with internal IT issues if needed HR and general administrative support to the FD, including liaising with external legal advisors when required Adhere strictly to the company's Quality, Health, Safety and Hygiene policies & procedure at all times Assist with project and ad hoc work as required Any other tasks as reasonably requested by the Finance Director Key Relationships: Internal Executive Directors All Managers All Supervision External Customers and Suppliers Legal advisors Payroll bureau IT company Auditors Banks Personal Attributes and Skills: Ideally AAT qualified/ finalist or part qualified ACCA/ CIMA (or qualified by experience) Reliable, professional and trustworthy, with high level of accuracy and attention to detail Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work as part of a team and on their own initiative Methodical and organised with a questioning mindset and excellent problem-solving skills Ability to meet tight deadlines and remain calm under pressure Willingness to 'muck in’ and carry out a variety of tasks as necessitated by a small business Strong system skills including advanced knowledge of Excel Ideally have exposure to SYSPRO, but not essential Sound understanding of financial operations and accounting controls In order to be successful in this role you will need to have strong experience working in a finance environment in similar role. Energy and enthusiasm are very important in this role as it is very busy at times and will provide the opportunity to take on more as you settle with the business. This role will start as a part-time role with the potential to grow into a full time in the future. Salary; Pro rata up to £30,000 dependent upon experience, pension, 28 days annual leave, free parking and the opportunity for career progression for the right individual. Part-time hours can be flexible, three full days or four shorter days, 24hrs per week.
