SHP (Single Homeless Project) is one of London’s leading homelessness prevention charities and a dynamic and growing organisation changing 8,000 lives every year across London - from supporting people in crisis, to helping them take the final steps towards independence and employment. We are seeking additional staff to join the experienced and committed teams within our Complex Needs Services, located in the boroughs of Camden, Islington and Lewisham. You will be in a specialist role designed to work with people with complex support needs relating to combined issues; such as mental ill health, multiple physical health needs, poly-substance use and offending behaviour. As a Project/Support Worker in our Complex Needs service, your role will be to provide support to clients with complex needs to enable them to understand their related needs and to manage these effectively. You will hold a small caseload of clients and be responsible for completing comprehensive needs and risk assessments with them, to identify their short-term objectives. You will also support clients to develop their living skills, develop and manage relationships, build social networks and to access various services. To be successful, you will have previous experience of working with rough sleepers, and / or people with complex mental health and alcohol or substance use support needs. You will also have an understanding of working with people using person-centred approaches and working collaboratively within a harm minimisation and recovery framework. The ability to manage a caseload and deliver positive outcomes utilising your knowledge of the health and social care sector is also needed. As is a flexible and creative approach to working with a sometimes hard to engage client group. Flexibility is required, as you will be working a rota inclusive of early shifts, late shifts, weekends and bank holidays.
