Job Title : Personal Care Assistant Location : Littlehampton Hourly rate : Monday - Friday £10.00 per hour Saturday and Sunday £12.00 per hour Reference : TM5249 Hours/shifts :Monday - Sunday 7am to 8.30am 12 noon to 12.30pm 5pm to 5.30pm 9.00pm to 9.30pm 2 PAs are needed for each shift. The ability to provide cover for PA holiday and sickness is essential. Summary • I am a man in my late fifties who is looking for a team of carers to help me remain living as independently as possible in my own home. • I need support with all personal care and activities of daily living. • I use a wheel chair to get around and need to be hoisted for all transfers. • I enjoy being independent in the local community and using my electric chair to get around. • I am looking for a team of reliable Personal Assistants, with excellent timekeeping, to cover 4 shifts per day Monday to Sunday. • Two PAs are needed for each shift to meet my personal care needs. • The team of carers will need to have the ability to contribute to providing cover for PA holiday and sickness. Other Requirements All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. Description Typical duties Domestic - Helping with laundry, washing and drying Loading and unloading the washing machine Loading and unloading tumble dryer/washing line Changing bed linen Bed making General cleaning Taking out rubbish Light housework/tidying, including cleaning, dusting and vacuuming. Minor household maintenance e.g. changing light bulbs. Preparing drinks, snacks and meals. Collecting post from the door and putting it in accessible area. Personal Care : • Washing and showering - towelling dry/ drying hair • Supervision and/or assistance with showering, drying, hair washing/ brushing as required • Help getting into and out of shower as required - hoisted on/off shower chair and wheeling into wet room. • Assistance with applying cream • General hair/skin care/electric shave on face area. • Hoisting on/off commode and managing toileting needs. • Dressing and undressing • Hoisting into/out off chair/bed and commode • Help with dispensing tablets • Assistance with medication i.e. helping to take tablets from foil/blister packets • Preparing meals/drinks Person specification The successful applicant will be : • Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality • Reliable with good time-keeping • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative • Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties • Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills • Honest and cheerful • Creative • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety Previous experience preferred but this is not as essential as a kind and common sense approach to these roles.
