Overview
This is a permanent position with a salary up to £40,000 plus benefits. Our office is based in Canary Wharf. The Nest pension scheme is growing fast due to the continues increase of members, and this creates new challenges and tasks. If you have strong knowledge of investment operations process, particularly funds & custody, experience of working with fund accountants and custodians, and have an accountant qualification or are studying towards it, then we would like to hear from you. The Fund Administration Executive will manage daily controls, reconciliations and monthly fund reports, oversight unit pricing and the asset allocation of all Nest funds, undertake analysis, and maintain and improve processes. Departmental overview The role sits within a team named Service Management and Assurance - Scheme Admin. The team is part of the Investment Directorate and delivers the operational capability to support the investment strategy. The department has an important role to play in the accounting of the scheme assets, is responsible for fund accounting for the schemes assets and works closely with Finance Directorate to support the preparation of monthly accounts and the annual report and accounts for the scheme. The department is also involved in the procurement of fund managers including operational due diligence and on-boards all new managers onto the platform. The Service Management and Assurance - Scheme Admin- team is responsible for service management, oversight and assurance of the investment operations and investment infrastructure for the scheme including oversight and contract management of State Street (SSB), the schemes fund administrator, and oversight of our fund managers. A key role of the team is giving assurance to the Executive Team and the Trustees to enable the scheme to demonstrate compliance with the DC Code as required by the TPR. Experience and technical skills -An understanding of the investment operations process, particularly unitised funds and custody; -Proven experience of working with fund accountants, custodians and third-party administrators; -A working knowledge of fund accounting and general ledgers; -Strong knowledge of working with Microsoft Excel including pivot tables, V lookups, macros, designing formulae; -An understanding of regulation governing pension scheme investment; -Knowledge of different pooled fund vehicles. Personal attributes required -Strong numeracy and analytical skills; -Willing to question assertively and challenge where something is not right; -High levels of accuracy and attention to details; -Able to solve issues or identifying steps to resolution; -Ability to work at a detailed level and articulate this detail clearly both in writing and verbally; -Able to forge good relationship with other areas of NEST and with State Street Bank, Fund managers and our Scheme admin. Education The Candidate is likely to be degree educated or studying towards accounting qualification, but the right experience and skills are as important as educational achievements.
