About The Global Fintech Company I have just been briefed on a role within a global Fintech company operating from 18 offices worldwide. They have grown by 70% in the last two years and grew from 100 – 800 employees globally within 5 years. The Fintech Company aims to erode international boarders by providing financial services that facilitate all aspects of global trade. My Fintech client traded £15.8bn in foreign currencies with 110 different currencies last year and are using the skills of data scientists to leverage new business opportunities, tackle financial crime, and devise dynamic pricing strategies. The Fintech company deals with international payments, risk management, import lending, and funds collection. As a data scientist within the Fintech Company, you will specialise in the development of a globally scaled anti-money laundering detection model. About The Data Scientist Role The ideal data scientist will be helping with the development of a globally scaled anti-money laundering model focused around anomaly detection and transaction monitoring for the Fintech Company. As a data scientist in the fraud team at the Fintech company you will be responsible for both the development of ideas, and the pushing the models into production. Key Responsibilities for the Data Scientist: • Using machine learning techniques for anomaly detection, transaction monitoring, and behavioural analysis • Developing and productionising unique ways to analyse and draw results from the Fintech companies large data sets • Working with unlabelled data sets • Liaising with the rest of the team to come up with novel solutions to tackle financial crime About the ideal Data Scientist You will ideally already have experience within the financial sector, preferably having developed machine learning models for anomaly detection. Furthermore, you will ideally come from a strong academic background based in computing or maths, Essential Skills and Competencies of the Data Scientist: • MSc / PhD in Machine Learning, Mathematics, Computing, etc – or 3 years relevant commercial experience • The ideal data scientist will already have experience with anomaly detection behavioural analysis and transaction monitoring • You will be an expert in using Python (Pytorch, Pyspark, numpy, NLTK) • Ideally you will have experience both prototyping and productionising machine learning models The ideal Data Scientist receives a highly competitive salary paying from £60,000 to £75,000 depending on experience and excellent company benefits with flexible working, and the opportunity to live and work abroad.
