Lead Developer Gloucester £40,000 - £55,000 An award-winning business based in Gloucester are looking for a Lead Developer to join their well-established and successful team. The company are currently under-going improvements to the speed and reliability of their platform, so the Lead Developer will need to have expertise in web-development and a real passion for e-commerce. Not only this but the successful Lead Developer will be required to guide a small team, completing reviews and suggesting improvements, so natural leadership skills are essential, as well as experience in a similar role. Responsibilities: Work alongside the Web Development Manager, setting guidelines, priorities and objectives Assist in the deployment of existing websites onto the new platform Code in-house websites using HTML5, CSS and TypeScript/JavaScript Improve website performance and subsequently reduce page load speed Own the front-end web tech stack and maintain a full understanding of all architecture, in order to offer guidance to the team Setup advanced experiences and A/B tests Cross-browser / device optimisation Keep up with best practice and technologies Use initiative and development skills efficiently and effectively Be excited to learn and develop skills Skills/ Experience: HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, jQuery, plus practical experience Considerable leadership experience Use of advanced CSS techniques - SCSS, BEM, flexbox Use of advanced frontend techniques; cache-control, etags, compression & optimisation, preloading Detailed knowledge of web performance and optimisation of best practices Experience working as a technical lead on a commercially focused web development project Excellent attention to detail AJAX, Python, Django, Zeplin, SEO would be beneficial Benefits: A welcoming and friendly team Fantastic career progression opportunities Recognition for work you have helped to create Generous holiday allowance and pension scheme Subsidised staff canteen Staff discount Regular social events Monthly performance bonus Reward and recognition scheme If you require any further information please contact Joe Lyons on GB Tech is your specialist in IT and Technology recruitment.
