Transport Manager

A strong management background in a fast-paced Transport environment is needed for this key role with a leading 3PL providing a B2B and B2C delivery service. This dynamic role calls for an accomplished Transport operator with a thorough understanding of modern transport systems and strong leadership qualities along with the credibility and gravitas necessary to engage with a large team of Drivers and the ancillary staff needed to support the transport function. You will ensure that the day-to-day transport and dispatch activities are effectively and efficiently managed, including vehicle scheduling, fleet management and legislative vehicle operational requirements. By nature, you will be committed to delivering high levels of customer satisfaction, will have the capacity to identify areas for improved productivity and will be an advocate of Continuous Improvement initiatives. Your strategic foresight will enable you to continually review and plan operational and resource capabilities to support seasonal trends and future growth. Likewise, your excellent commercial acumen and proactive approach to cost control and budgetary management will enable you to improve the financial efficiencies of the Transport function. It goes without saying that you will be an inspirational leader with a broad experience of managing large teams within a unionised environment and will have the capacity to be instrumental in creating a highly productive, customer centric work ethos within your delivery team. Moreover, you will have proven experience of overcoming the cultural challenges of leading and motivating a team and guiding them through necessary changes to operational practices and system upgrades. There is a lot to be done and the candidate we seek will need all the qualities and experience we have mentioned but most importantly, won't be frightened to challenge the status quo or ruffle feathers to make the necessary improvements.
