Overview

We are recruiting for part time Residential Support Worker’s for our Children’s Homes, linked to Rugeley School, in Rugeley Staffordshire. The Children’s Homes and Rugeley School are a specialist residential settings for young people aged 5 to 19 with autism and moderate to severe learning difficulties. The homes provide a modern setting in which students can achieve an enhanced degree of emotional stability through an active approach to learning. Students are able to engage in daily life with increased confidence, self-esteem, dignity and independence. As a Residential Support Worker you will be a key member of our Children’s Home Team in Rugeley, providing high standards of person-centred support and care to our young people throughout their day-to-day life. Our Residential support workers through a creative and caring approach, will build good relationships with both students and their families, supporting them in the planning of goals and in living as independently as possible at our Children’s home. Successful applicants will be required to provide a range of support services including help with personal care and helping to develop social skills and home skills to students in their residential setting. This is a physically demanding role and staff will also need to have the confidence to deal with the challenging behaviours that autism can present. We use a rota system to ensure the young people in our home get the care they need. Our Support Worker posts will suit people who are prepared to work a three week rolling rota comprising of early and late shifts covering weekdays and weekends. The role does not require any contractual ‘sleep-in’ duties. Bank and Full Time positions also available. Successful applicants will ideally have previous experience of working with young people with challenging behaviour. Due to the requirement of the standards that we work to in the residential setting all staff need to have reached the age of 21.
