About the role: The purpose of this role is to contribute to a team of Field Scientists that undertakes a number of proactive and reactive activities to ensure that water quality is maintained from source to service reservoir and incidents are responded to in a timely and effective manner. An additional element of this role is to recommend and champion optimisation initiatives to reduce cost or improve quality at no additional cos­­­­t. Key Accountabilities: Water quality data analysis, reporting, process monitoring, and internal auditing from abstraction source to service reservoirs. Ensuring daily process quality whilst seeking means of driving continuous improvement via optimisation opportunities. Trouble-shooting the process plant during incidents, ensuring lessons are learned and corrective action management is adopted to prevent reoccurrence. The provision of technical support to Production, Network and Capital Delivery Schemes. Undertaking out of hours technical support on a one in six rotas for which appropriate training will be given. To be successful, you will have the following skills and experience: HNC/Degree level in an appropriate discipline. An enthusiastic self-starter with an inquisitive mind-set who enjoys investigative work. A background in water science or process engineering operating within a regulatory framework would be advantageous. Good organisational, communication and interpersonal skills are key as the role involves liaising with internal stakeholders on a day to day basis. Although not essential, an awareness of Industry Best Operating Practice as applicable to potable water treatment and transmission would be beneficial. The successful candidate must be able to work in a logical and analytical manner and be able to maintain a positive and professional approach when dealing with customers. Travel to numerous sites is a requirement of this role so transport will be provided. A valid UK driving license is therefore essential. What’s in it for you?
