Overview

The Opportunity To apply financial control to specific contracts within programmes finance, taking responsibility for all financial aspects. To be an integral part of the Programmes Finance Team providing Finance and Project Management with effective, timely and accurate financial information whilst acting as a key business partner to a designated project team. This role allows the Finance Controller to demonstrate their ability to proactively and independently manage all aspects of project financial management and allows them to gain, or build on their, experience of working in a world leading multi-national company. What are we looking for? Qualified Accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) or Qualified by Experience Experience or knowledge of project accounting e.g. Long term contract management (eg. Via Estimate At Completions) Revenue and Margin Trading Annual Budgets and Long Term Business Planning Integrity of data on financial systems Knowledge and experience of Finance IT tools (e.g. SAP R/3, SAP BW) and MS Excel. Experience of preparing annual cost certificates and other MoD financial requirements. Ability to build strong and productive working relationships within multi discipline and multi-national project and Finance teams, whilst maintaining independence and integrity. Experience of working in a team spread across several locations and / or countries and a willingness to travel occasionally is desirable. What’s in it for you? The Role Apply financial control to responsible contracts and be a key point of focus to project teams in support of financial matters generally and specifically on agreed contract responsibilities. Report actual and forecast achievement for responsible contracts against its financial targets, including risks and opportunities. Prepare contract specific profitability statements ensuring that estimates of costs to go and risk provisions and opportunity registers are appropriately challenged. Understand & be involved in preparing Specific Competitiveness Plans on responsible contracts ensuring that appropriate challenges are included. Support and management of business plan process on responsible contracts. Ensure that relevant project staff are clear upon their financial objectives. Prepare (as required) annual cost certificates and other MoD financial reporting requirements Understand the financial implications of the latest commercial terms and conditions within the prime and sub contracts for specific contract responsibility. Financially manage your specific contracts including putting in place sales and margin trading plans, invoicing, credit control, net cash forecasting and interfacing with the project control team to ensure the integrity of the financial entries within the financial systems. Ensure that intercompany trading contracts are prepared in accordance with the intercompany trading policy. Control and lead on activities related to VOP management What’s great about the team?
