Repair Design Engineer
Overview
Our client based in the South West is looking for a Repair Design Engineer to join their team on a contract basis. As a member of the Wing Programme Major Repairs team you will be a Repair Design Engineer supporting the in-service fleet. You will carry out design engineering activities, liaising with the various stakeholders to ensure the success of the multiple major repair solutions currently being undertaken. You will scope, define and deliver technical solutions in accordance with relevant design methods and procedures. You will ensure quality and technical delivery performance is consistent and in line with our customer requirements. Projects that you could work on include: Design pre-defined major repairs to suit our fleet's needs Interact with chief engineers to determine potential repair risks Support customer services to deliver reactive major aircraft repairs Investigate and resolve in-service issues Contribute to technical design reviews You will gain experience across the whole wing structure. The tasks will be varied and require you to use additional skills (technical, project management, digitalisation and communication) in order to complete them successfully. About You The requirement is for an Engineer with an Aerospace Engineering background, with repairs knowledge. Ability to communicate at all levels of the organisation, set objectives and prioritise to time, cost and quality Deliver integrated engineering solutions within agreed timescales. Where appropriate, utilise and support strategic off-site engineering commercial partnerships to ensure appropriate capability and flexibility Essential Skills Minimum HNC/HND qualification and relevant engineering experience. Ability to interrogate design documentation and drawings, proven knowledge of Airbus manuals (SRM, AMM, IPC) and associated publications. Ability to liaise/negotiate at all levels of the organisation including Customer Services and suppliers. Demonstrate excellent PC skills. Be conversant with technical requirements for repair design. Good interpersonal and communication skills including task leadership. Ability to translate customer requirements into operational deliverables. Catia V5 skilled Preferred Skills Working knowledge of all Airbus Structures Working knowledge of Airbus design tools and processes Design Engineering background in aircraft structure. Already holding design approvals.
