Overview

Job Title: Social Support Worker Location: Worthing Hourly rate: £9 Reference: DP1420a Hours/shifts : Up to 15 hours per week. I am flexible and open to discussion in regards to specific times and days. Summary I am looking for general support for my daughter. She has mild autism and epilepsy and needs help with general life skills and confidence building. We understand in the current circumstances that social activities may need to be changed and adapted. This would also depend on my daughter’s health as it can vary day to day. I would also like the Support Worker to help with shopping and accompany us on walks at this time as it is becoming difficult to do this ourselves. Experience is not essential, just a kind and caring nature for a lovely and sensitive young lady. Other Requirements • "Exemption is claimed under the Equality Act 2010 Part 1 Schedule 9." • Must be comfortable with pets • Must have a UK driving licence • Must have access to own vehicle • Other : All applicants must be willing to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure & Barring Service check Successful applicants will be entitled to Holiday pay and will be issued employment contracts. Description Typical duties Domestic - • Helping to learn to cook new meals. • Assisting with General housework. • Correspondence e.g. reading letters, help writing replies, form-filling, assisting with household paperwork. • Making phone calls on my behalf. Social: The following activities would depend on my daughters health as this varies from day to day. Accompanying and assisting employer on shopping trips and leisure activities when required • Accompanying employer to doctors/hospital appointments when required • Occasional longer journeys • Accompanying on trips out. • Driving and accompanying to social events. • Accompanying to social meetings eg friends • The above duties will involve driving the employer in the PA’s car. Person specification The successful applicant will be: • Ability to complete Admin Tasks • Provide and follow Structure in daily life • Respectful of the employer’s privacy and confidentiality • Reliable with good time-keeping • Able to both follow instructions and work on own initiative • Hygienic, tidy minded and well organised • Fit and healthy to undertake the required duties • Patience and possess excellent interpersonal skills • Honest and cheerful • Able to speak and read English to a reasonable standard • Legally permitted to work in the United Kingdom • Able to work at all times to high standards of Health & Safety Please note, if you are successful in your application for this role you will be employed directly through the individual employer and not Independent Lives.
