Overview
A highly valued technology services client of ours based in central London have a permanent opportunity for a Systems Reliability Engineer to work within their Infrastructure team to spearhead their expansion into cloud computing, storage and containerisation. They are looking for someone who can drive integration of containerisation and cloud computing with traditional on-prem systems. They will support the release of new services via capacity planning, rollout planning and release management. This role can be based in either our clients London or Peterborough offices but travel to other locations will also be required. Essential Skills & Requirements: Skilled LINUX engineer Strong experience in hybrid on-prem/cloud environments is essential Strong experience with Ansible is essential: templating, roles, variables, etc… Experience in Python coding for scripting automation and internal improvements Knowledge of Python and experience working with development tools such as Git, Jenkins, Automated testing etc. Experience of API integrations to enhance productivity Experience with SRE or DevOps Microsoft Azure experience (preferred), but experience of AWS or GCP will considered Knowledge of containers and container orchestration (Kubernetes) Knowledge of monitoring platforms and performance management Responsibilities: Assist in the design, development and documentation required to ensure a consistent, up to date Develop, document and assure end to end process management Design & document a software development environment for use on staff devices (multiple platforms) Design & document a pipeline to deliver User Acceptance Testing (UAT) environments for software projects Monitor processes, performance and look to deliver continuous improvements, such as documentation & working process updates Ansible templating, playbook scripting & updates. Assist Infrastructure Manager to develop the systems team in meeting goals and On call rota and out of hours element, including occasional support for major operational issues outside of office hours Induction of new staff, both in technical & non-technical roles. Support of internal information security, including day-to-day support of office security systems. Developing new solutions, systems, or processes supporting both hardware and software Documentation of company services, systems, servers and any other relevant information Documentation to include relevant diagrams of connectivity/ information flow in support of on-call duties. Training staff in the use and operation of company systems where appropriate; specifically, new systems or those not covered under Induction. Keeping the Infrastructure, meaning services, systems, servers and applications (where applicable), up to date. Configuring, provisioning and maintaining servers as required. Provisioning, configuration and maintenance of staff and server backup solutions. Deployment & maintenance of host-based firewalls.
