Head of Humanities - Independent Prep School Location: London Start Date: September 2020 Salary: Competative and well above the national average, with other benefits. Our client, a successful and academically selective Independent Prep School in the South of London is looking to appoint a Head of Humanities to their thriving and dynamic school from September 2020. The school is large and co-educational with outstanding facilities for both staff and students alike. Staff consistently and repeatedly describe the school as a happy place to work, with a supportive leadership team and access to a range of different professional development programmes in place. The school is looking to appoint a passionate and inspiring Head of Humanities to their school on a permanent basis from September 2020. The ideal Head of Humanities will have a background in teaching Geography, History or Religious Studies at Preparatory level. The successful candidate will also need a good degree in one of the above subjects, ideally from a well-regarded University. The Head of Humanities will have small teaching responsibilities, and will work closely alongside the Deputy Head Academic to lead the Humanities department at KS2, and the Scholarship Programme for the lower KS3 pupils. Amongst other responsibilities, the role will involve monitoring lessons, management of the staff within the Humanities department and co-ordinating the curriculum. The Head of Humanities will also be responsible for planning assessments as well as delivering extra-curricular events such as trips. Experience with Common Entrance and Scholarships is advantageous. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are required for the Head of Humanities post, as establishing strong relationships with both parents and staff is essential.
