Overview

Head of Technical Services - Northampton Excellent opportunity for a Head of Technical Services to join a leading IT solutions organisation based in Northampton This role is ideally suited to a Technical Manager who has experience of managing internal IT departments or MSP's, working in a commercial environment, with a detailed technical background. Technical Responsibilities: Ownership of the organisations technical solutions and service Ownership of quality levels throughout the technical service Manage continuous improvement and best practice initiatives Ownership of technical change management across the group Provide strategic advice on using technology to clients and internal teams Support new technology implementations Managerial Responsibilities: Management responsibility for department Managers and some technical resources Staff development, retention and progression, assess and deliver training needs Commercial Responsibilities: Ownership of the technical capital, opex and salary budget Identification and appraisal of new technical investments Design IT systems with the appropriate budget, architecture and functionality Participate in the change management process for multiple clients Attend client review meetings and identifying improvement opportunities Must-haves: Experience of designing, implementing and managing IT systems to SME companies Excellent knowledge of multiple server platforms and associated technologies, roles and features. Experience of Information and Cyber security, security solutions and strategy. A good working knowledge of ITIL processes and controls. A good working knowledge of GDPR and PCI Data Security Standards. At least 5 years' experience working in a similar senior IT role Desirables: Understanding and experience working with technical systems ideally in the retail sector Experience of Linux, AIX or IBM platforms Knowledge of virtualisation platforms Hyper-V and VMWare Experience with Citrix Xen Server and VDI solutions Experience with SQL, Office365, Sharepoint, VOIP or Unified Messaging solutions Knowledgeof managing and implementing cloud solutions within Microsoft Azure or AWS Knowledge of network infrastructure, firewalls, security products and VPN A lucrative package and salary is on offer for the successful candidate.
