Overview
I have just spoken with a key client of mine who are a reputable global engineering business who are looking to add a new position within their Procurement team. My client are looking for a Junior Buyer to join the team to develop the supplier base and have input across the supply chain including stock/inventory control and supplier development. There is a buzz in the offices with everyone working collaboratively to achieve business goals. You will form part of a close-knit team and develop and grow with the business, initially offering support to the Buyers in the team whilst developing towards promotion to Buyer yourself. Main Responsibilities To review MRP system information on a daily basis and take appropriate actions on agreed stock levels. To build BOM’s on items and store information on the MRP. To identify mutually beneficial opportunities for new supplier agreements and implement these seeking to agree improvements to pricing and call-off processes. To place and expedite purchase orders where necessary. To take ownership of current suppliers & stock control of all raw materials. To actively visit and benchmark with market suppliers to ensure the business is always getting the best market value on materials. Liaise regularly with internal stakeholders to ensure purchased parts remains aligned to capacity. To ensure that any and all issues requiring escalation are indeed escalated in a timely manner to minimise the knock-on effects to customers. Person Specification/Key Skills/Education required Must have: o Experience in a manufacturing/engineering environment where production, material planning and purchasing is controlled through an electronic ERP system Personality Profile: o Driven and proactive, will to muck in with other duties where needed. o Intermediate Excel skills - e.g Pivot Tables / Vlookups The role will be paying between £23k-£25k and has fantastic growth potential to more senior levels with the new site next year bringing many positive opportunities to the business.
