Head of Software Architecture (Java Microservices AWS). In this Head of Software Architecture role you will lead a Lean enterprise architecture team that focuses on defining and moving the organisation towards future state platform architecture, cultivating an environment where innovation and the ideas that emerge from teams are woven into the culture of continuous improvement. Your expertise will be the foundation to delivering successful system developments; you'll foster architecture for change whilst dealing with technical debt in a complex and competitive industry. Successful leaders are in a perpetual state of preparation, ready to face the inevitable changes businesses may face. As the Head of Software Architecture, you'll need to build in robust mechanisms for cross team design and implementation synchronisation, allowing teams to adapt to the natural evolution of advancing technology guided by an appropriate level of intentional architectural design. In this Head of Software Architecture role you'll be serving a greater cause, the organisation yes, but also your team. Whilst you will be the architectural thought leader, you will guide your team on the principles of empowerment and empathy to ensure adaptive future state architecture has the backing and commitment of relevant technical teams and stakeholders. From white-boarding to hands on design work with Java in a Cloud (AWS) environment, you will play a critical role in delivering short term actions that are consistent with long term goals. Your macro level overview of the architectural vision and business's strategic objectives in conjunction with your local level technical involvement means you will shape the architectural direction and guide decisions to provide perspective on the readiness of the organisations to change and innovate. You'll forge robust working relationships across the company, collaborating with stakeholders, product owners, architects, projects managers and heads of department to realise this vision; excelling at board level as well as interpersonally. Requirements: You are a software architecture evangelist who can construct a high-level, detailed overview of enterprise-scale systems You're skilled at distilling complex technology down to actionable components that resonate with business objectives You have expert knowledge around building high-volume transactional systems / PAAS / IAAS / APIs / Microservices and event-driven architectures You are a positive, impactful leader who mediates and empowers in an emotionally intelligent, proactive way From board-level meetings to whiteboard or code in a one-on-one, you have first-rate communication and interpersonal skills, able to bring people onside from the outset Desirable: experience in the Gaming industry, experience of public cloud migrations This company wears their culture on the outside - from the pool table to grass carpets, poker tournaments to yoga sessions, you'll be joining a relaxed but professional environment where you can craft a truly unique career experience.
