Overview

The Opportunity: Nigel Wright has been appointed by a key repeat client in the oil and gas sector to support with the recruitment of a Commercial Manager to lead and drive their commercial function and team. The position is being created due to growth and will report into the Chief Commercial Officer. The Role: Holding management responsibility for all commercial activities of the organisation. The above responsibility includes the preparation, qualification, negotiation and approval of customer and supplier contracts and the effective management of existing contracts. The role will sit on the company management team and will require the successful hire to work in collaboration with the management team across all functions. Leading / participating in customer negotiations following responses to tender submissions Leading / participating in supplier negotiations in conjunction with framework agreements and specific contracts. Preparing, negotiating and managing of contract and subcontract framework agreements as required to support Company activities. Closely administering and managing all commercial aspects of projects and contracts. Reviewing business opportunities, tenders and contracts to identify areas of risk including liabilities, indemnities and insurance requirements. Developing risk matrices to be incorporated into operational / project management reviews. Performing project analysis for ensuring the financial returns are in line with the tender / contract agreement and business objectives. Establishing and maintaining a system of commercial management tools for the effective control, assessment, monitoring and reporting of the commercial function performance. Person Specification: Previous commercial management experience, preferably in the oil and gas sector (strong commercial managers from other sectors will be considered). Experience of holding responsibility for managing bid / tender / proposal teams. Experience of holding responsibility for contract negotiation and approval. Experience of both customer and supplier contract management. The successful hire must be commutable to County Durham,
