PSI Technical are currently recruiting for a skilled Automation and Controls Engineer based in either Manchester or Harwich. Working as part of a team the successful candidate will report to the Automation/Electrical Manager and be responsible for designing PLC software, working closely with fellow Software Engineers & Electrical Design Engineers. The role will involve minimal worldwide travel to assist with the installation, commissioning and major faults with the equipment. The Benefits: · Learning and Development Schedule · World leading, stable and growing business · Minimal Travel · Flexible working location The Person: To be considered for the Automation and Controls Engineer position it is essential that you possess a high level of PLC programming experience – Ideally Siemens or Rockwell – and live within a commutable distance from Macclesfield or Harwich, with some flexibility in working location and availability for some international travel. Main Duties: · Experienced with Allen Bradley and Siemens PLC controlled automation in a continuous process or production environment including: 1. Rockwell RSLogix 5000 & Studio 5000. 2. Siemens Step 7 and TIA Portal. 3. Communications networking (Ethernet, Ethernet/IP, DeviceNet, Profibus and Profinet) 4. Serial Communications using Modbus and ASCII protocols. · Produce specifications and design documentation (FDS) · Configure and develop software for a wide variety of applications · Perform PLC control level issue diagnosis, possess a highly developed fault finding and problem-solving skills. · Understanding and developing improvement strategies within PLC ladder code. · Design modify and code new and existing SCADA Systems - Experience of WinCC, FactoryTalk, Wonderware and iFix would be advantageous. · Design modify and code new and existing HMI displays. · Test and commission safely in a working end user environment · Collaborate and communicate with engineers and production staff when completing project work to enhance production efficiency, effectiveness and operational understanding. · Prepare specifications and technical detail to fully define project requirements. · Developing and implementing the required technology to increase reliability and efficiency of machinery; identify obsolescence and future risks for process and product change.
