CAD / CAM Technician Superb career opportunity with a leading specialist steel stockholder Attractive Salary Bonus Benefits Dalton, North Yorkshire Ref:LH0313 Part of an international group, National Tube Stockholders (NTS) is a leading specialist steel stockholder who has built a strong reputation within the UK steel industry through organic growth and strategic acquisition. At this exciting stage in their development, this long established and highly profitable business has recently made a major investment in two state of the art laser tube profiling machines. The machines are due for delivery later this year and an opportunity now exists for a CAD / CAM Technician to provide technical support to the Operations Processing teams, who will be responsible for the successful implementation, installation, set up and operation of the company’s laser processing and profiling facility. The facility will complement the company’s existing operation and will integrate fully in to the overarching operations strategy. You will be responsible for reviewing sales enquiries to support generation of quotes for work and developing and managing CAD/CAM models. As this is a start-up operation you will be instrumental in creating and setting up the CAD/CAM systems needed. PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES: Offline laser programming using CAD/CAM software Develop production time estimates for sales quotes Design customer models using 3D CAD Document version control for drawings & models Efficient nesting of parts from stock material Working with production to develop production schedules and KPI reporting Undertake any other reasonable task as required (competence permitting). KNOWLEDGE & EXPERIENCE: Experience of document management systems and version control. 3D CAD / CAM experience. (Experience of Adige systems beneficial) Experience of Solidworks / Artube would be beneficial Ability to read technical engineering drawings and develop parts from them Be able to work under own initiative.
