Overview
Support Worker - Homelessness Worksop, Nottinghamshire About Us Hope Community Services run Nottinghamshire's only 24/7 direct access accommodation, providing a bed, meals and full support to homeless people in need. Our vision is for a fair, responsible and inclusive society which encourages, enables and empowers individuals to maximise their potential. Our mission is to ensure those outside mainstream services are empowered to make positive lifestyle choices. We do this through promoting social inclusion, tackling disadvantage, homelessness and their causes. We provide "move on" accommodation for those getting back on their feet, community accommodation where they can start gaining back their independence. We provide them with individual support packages to enable them to get back into work and build a sustainable lifestyle. We are now looking for a Support Worker to join our team and assist our service users to carry out their action plans. The Role As a Support Worker, you will engage with service users in hostels and our 'move on’ properties and provide tailored support packages that motivate them to make sustainable changes. You will provide support in line with each individual’s needs, helping them with their education, to find a job and to navigate benefits and funding, until they can manage these issues alone. Your role will also involve: - Regularly reviewing action and support plans, ensuring they promote independence - Undertaking referrals and assessments for service users - Ensuring service users’ housing benefit claims are submitted - Ensuring service users have access to relevant external support services - Attending regular supervisions and actively involving yourself in team meetings - Working in partnership with key agencies in the statutory and voluntary sectors This role will involve some travel across the local area. About You To join us as a Support Worker, you will need: - Previous experience in a support worker role - Knowledge and/or experience of dealing with the homeless - The ability to work flexibly to meet the demands of the job, including out of hours working - To be committed to continuous learning and development - To be conscientious and reliable - At a minimum, a Level 3 social care qualification or equivalent experience - A full, valid driving licence Ideally, you will have basic cooking skills, but this is not essential. Other organisations may call this role Community Worker, Support Officer, Community Officer, Homelessness Officer, Shelter Worker, Hostel Worker, Homelessness Support Worker, Homeless Development Officer, or Community Development Officer. This is a full-time role, working 37 hours per week, between the hours of 8am and 9pm, with an on-call rota system in place. Part-time options may be considered for the right candidate.
