Overview
Network Engineer (Security, Firewall, ITIL) A FTSE100 company, market leading developer and supplier of mission critical solutions to the public sector is looking to hire a talented Network Engineer (Security, Firewall, ITIL). Their product portfolio includes all the UKs blue light emergency services enabling full end to end incident communications and management, as well as many significant non blue light, Government and non-government service providers. As a Network engineer you will be responsible for implementing scalable and highly available network architectures that meet customers' business objectives and SLAs, support the project engineering team and help deliver mission critical solutions into live operational service. Responsibilities for the Network Engineer (Security, Firewall, ITIL): Configure and install various network and security devices and services (e.g., routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, QoS). Perform network maintenance and system upgrades including service packs, patches, hot fixes and security configurations. Perform security maintenance and diagnostics on firewalls. Monitor performance and ensure system availability and reliability. Ensure the deliver solution can support the customers' requirements for resource utilisation, trending, and capacity planning. Provide Level 2nd & 3rd line support in troubleshooting to resolve issues. Select and implement security tools, policies, and procedures in conjunction with the company's security team. Essential requirements for the Network Engineer (Security, Firewall, ITIL): Proven hands-on network and security experience CCNA or higher (CCNP highly valued) understanding of networking protocols (e.g., GRE, IPSEC, HSRP, BGP, OSPF, 802.11, QoS) Configuring and installing various network devices and services including; routers, switches, firewalls, VPN, GRE, QoS) Solid understanding of the OSI or TCP/IP model Hands-on experience with monitoring, network and security diagnostic and network analytics tools Excellent customer service skills Proven experience working to ITIL best practices.
